Owner Kurt Johnson is a naturalist, author and photographer with a passion for the natural world of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Kurt has been fascinated by wildlife since he was a young boy and even claimed (at age four) that his professional aspirations were to grow up to be a monkey. This has yet to be achieved, but along the way he has studied wildlife all over the world including two years organizing and leading safaris in Kenya. Kurt has been guiding natural history excursions in Yellowstone and Grand Teton for over ten years as well as teaching photography and leading astronomy programs. Kurt’s field guide, The Field Guide to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, is the most comprehensive identification and natural history guide ever written about these two National Parks and is currently the best selling field guide to the region. Kurt is also a National Geographic Certified Photo Instructor and freelances with National Geographic and Natural Habitat Adventures a few times per year. When planning your trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton, remember that WTOW literally wrote the book on these parks!
